The Way We Operate

Re-starting Philosophers Wool continues to be a wonderful opportunity full of interesting challenges. At this early stage, we are not yet able to work with local sheep farmers to produce wool the way Ann and Eugene did (shearing once per year to get a longer fibre, taking this wool to Texas and the Maritimes for natural processing). But we are using Canadian unwashed wool (to maintain the high lanolin content) using the same mills that Ann and Eugene used. We hope to move closer to the original Philosophers Wool model as we rebuild the business, revive old partnerships or create new connections with Ontario sheep farmers. We look forward to supplying you with high quality, beautiful wool and, of course, other things “sheepy” for many years to come.
